Update Dreaming of Magic Sun 10/19/08; Part II
We decided to head back to the ship and relax before dinner. As we were walking along, we noticed this dog with sunglasses and a bandanna around its neck! Then we realized the dog was skateboarding down an incline! There is a short incline in the walkway and the dog’s owner would start the skateboard down the incline and the dog would jump on the board and ride it for about 3 seconds and then jump off, trot back up the incline and do it again! It was the coolest thing! Picture a mini “Spuds MacKenzie” with sunglasses and a bandanna around his neck, skateboarding down the hill! I took a video, but, again, no still pictures. Here is the video: Key West Surfer Dog
We reboarded the ship and went back to the stateroom to get ready for dinner. Tonight was Lumiere’s. We arrived and Keith and Marilyn were already there. Marko and Godfrey were right there taking our drink orders. We had some small talk with Keith and Marilyn and Godfrey came back and took our orders.
I had:
- Appetizer: Duck, Prune Pie (a lot better than it sounds!)
- Soup: Tomato/Basil
- Entrée: Lamb
- Dessert: Pistachio Ice Cream
- Appetizer: Shrimp
- Soup: Tomato/Basil
- Entrée: Roast Duck
- Dessert: Crepe Suzette
Tonight’s show was the hypnotist, Ricky Kalmon. I gotta tell you, this was a great show! I don’t think I’d ever seen a hypnotist in a live show before. He got 11-12 volunteers and proceeded to have them do the funniest things. One of them was to make them think a napkin was a $100 bill! It was the funniest thing to see the reactions as he handed out “$100 dollar bills” like they were napkins! They were told to hide them somewhere safe…. And you can just imagine where they hid them…. One girl was especially funny!
After the show, we went up to deck #9 and walked around there and up to deck #10 just exploring. We went back to the stateroom and got in our swimwear and went to the adult pool and got into one of the hot tubs. AAHhhhhhhhhhh! We stayed there about an hour. On the way back to the stateroom, we stopped at the drink station and got a coffee to take to the room and when we got there, we had our Irish Coffee on the veranda.
We noticed a lot more movement in the ship after we left Key West. I attribute it to getting further away from land and into the open sea. Now, it wasn’t any more movement than I would expect from a floating resort, mind you, but it did make you catch yourself occasionally.
As I was sitting on the veranda, I found we had a stow-a-way! A little bird had apparently decided to go on a Disney cruise, too. Or, maybe, had relatives in Grand Cayman and wanted to visit them?
Oh, I wanted to mention that we had 26 heavy duty wooden hangers in our closet. I was under the impression that there were only 7 or 8 so we had brought some from home. I can’t say about the other rooms, but ours had plenty.
We had wanted to “hear” the sunset in Key West, but, alas, we had the 6pm dinner and the sun sets about 7pm this time of year. So, we missed every sunset! We missed all the sunrises, too, because we were on the starboard (right) side of the ship, and when you are going south, the sun rises on the port side. The one morning I could have seen the sunrise, (Friday, CC day) I slept in! (I hope I got my ship lingo right!)
We had a great time in Key West today and I highly recommend the trolley if you’ve never been there. It’s cheap enough and plenty interesting. We had perfect weather for Key West.
