When Dreams of Magic came True

second day: getting to the world

Rude People, Airplanes, Boats, and Carriage Rides! Fri 10/17/2008
I woke up about 4:50am , I guess I just couldn't sleep! I got Brenda up about 6:20am. We got down to breakfast about 8. It was a decent breakfast with waffles, french toast, scrambled eggs, toast & pastries, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. We took the 8:30 shuttle to the airport and chatted with a Delta Flight Attendant. There were virtually no lines and we were through security by 9:00. DW had to go through that new "air-puff" machine, and she got startled a bit, not knowing what to expect. We found our gate and I went to get a water, for me, and a diet soda for Brenda. We had over an hour before boarding, so we just found a seat and waited. We had a problem trying to board the plane. You can only get our side of the story, so I'll try not to bore you with details. Suffice to say, there are rude people who think they can physically push their way past women to get in front and then call those women names that shouldn't be said in public.... and yes, they usually get away with it! I wasn't going to let that ruin things, but words were said, and then we tried to forget it and just go to Orlando. We arrived there on time at 12:45 and went thru the airport with no problems. We boarded DME at 1:15pm and Benjamin drove us to POFQ where we arrived about 1:45pm.
(we were the first stop!) Patsy checked us into room #5327, which was nothing special. Building #5 in the back. We settled in the room. Then we went in search of food via the water taxi to DTD. We decided on Earl Of Sandwich and we went in and checked out the menu. There was Brenda's meatball sandwich and they had one called the "All American which sounded good to me. These had to be some of the best sandwiches ever! We both liked them very much. We wandered around WOD and made our way back to the dock and took the boat to PO Riverside, where we had dessert (chocolate cake and ice cream) in the Food Court. We were way early for our carriage ride, so we just sat on a bench and watched the peoples' reactions to the horses. Finally it was 7:45pm, time to check-in for our 8:00 ride! Miss Linda, our driver, and Lance, a 2000 lbs. Percheron Draft Horse, gave us our ride. This was one of the most memorable times of our trip. It was really relaxing. They took us down river, through the French Quarter, and back up river to Riverside. The ride is about 30 minutes. We took the boat back to French Quarter and had some of their famous beignets and hot tea for a snack.
We went back to the room and got our bags ready for pick up tomorrow. You don't put your bags outside anymore, you just have them ready just inside your door for Bell Services to pick up about 8am.
